A little late but...Halloween pics

I know I am terribly late at posting these but,to be honest, I just downloaded them off my camera (mental note to self: add reminder to phone for monthly downloads to Snapfish!).

I really enjoy making costumes for the kids and this year Lauren wanted to be "Struck by Lightning". Cody did this one year, but I made the addition of the lights for a better visual effect at night.

This is Lauren's actual hair! My mom is wiz with a comb for teasing! The picture that is taken with Lauren in front of the fan is a visual for the stiffness of her Halloween do, as the fan was actually running and the hair shows no signs of movement! Eat your heart out Aquanet!

Sympathy Card

Here is a card I made for a friend whose father just passed away. Cardstock is Prism, patterned paper is from Basic Grey and the heart and lock embellishment came from Oriental Trading Company, the stamps used are from Stampin' Up.

Quick Halloween Treat Bags

Lauren and I put these together for her class. The bags were from Target and I topped them with a simple piece of cardstock embossed with a stamp set from Inkadinkado that I picked up at Michaels.

A New Beginning

Well, I thought I would give blogging a try! Some friends of mine post on Facebook but I think blogging is more my style.

In an effort to capture quirky things of my daily life and to help me keep track of things I find on the web I hope this blog will support my obsession for organization and scrapbooking.

Davey Doings:
Yesterday we bid farewell to our German exchange student, Alex. It was an interesting adventure with a jam packed schedule that left us sprawled out on the couch last night wheezing like we had ran a non-stop marathon for the entire two week span of time that he stayed with us. Our normal schedule with two busy kids is kind of crazy so adding a third child to the mix had us hopping around like a one legged man in a butt kicking contest :o). The cultural lessons and exposure to this uncharacteristically mature 16 year old is a memory that our family will reflect upon for years to come. Alex seemed to be most intrigued by the amount of time that he and his fellow exchange students spent in travel going to and from the various points of interest. He said that his normal daily commute time consisted of a couple minute walk to the store or a few more minutes to get to a train station. His 40+ hours of travel time that he spent during his three week visit to America (he spent one other week in Kentucky) had him appreciating the convenience of living so close to things...unlike here in Southern Maryland...gotta love our remoteness.
